COMMUNICATIONS, STRATEGY, AND TRANSFORMATION CONSULTING

Helping you get it across.

I work with independent clinicians and higher education leaders to decide where they’re headed, build what it takes to get there, and bring people along — whether that’s a practice rethinking its care and pricing model or a campus leader launching a new initiative.

WHY HEALTH CARE AND EDUCATION

For my whole life, I have been surrounded by clinicians. My father spent his career as a physician. My brother is an ENT. One sister-in-law works in high-risk obstetrics, another in geriatrics. My wife helped build one of the largest integrative and functional medicine practices in the country, and now she trains clinicians through her company WholeHealth NP.

So I've spent a lot of years at tables where the conversation turns to the same frustration. The diagnosis was right. The plan was good. And somewhere in the visit, it didn't take. I've never had the medical answer to that. But I've always been someone thinking about the other half — the person on the other side of the conversation, and what would have reached them.

Professionally, I spent sixteen years inside a university, watching the same thing happen at scale. Real vision in the president's office. Real expertise in the classroom. And thousands of people on the other end of it. It was my job to make sure it got there.

My years in higher education also taught me that the message is rarely the whole problem. When something wasn't landing, the cause usually sat further upstream: a direction that wasn't settled yet, a structure working against it, a change no one had built a path for. Independent practices run into the same thing in their own way, in how visits are structured, what they offer, and how they price it.

Medicine and education are the two fields where knowledge matters most and too often travels worst. Both train people to be right. Neither trains them to be received.

So that's the work now: getting the design right, and making sure it's received.

CHOOSE YOUR PATH

FOR HEALTH CARE PROFESSIONALS

A practice has a bedside manner too. It lives in how your visits are designed, what you offer and how you price it, and where patients meet you.

- Practice strategy: a clear direction and a plan

- Visit and pricing models that fit how you practice

- Branding, marketing, and a website that fits

- Patient education and engagement materials

FOR HIGHER ED LEADERS

You have a vision, a hard budget year, and a campus that isn't sure what to believe.  I help you shape the plan, build it, and say it so they feel it.

- Innovation work that ends in fundable prototypes

- Messaging for the moments that matter

- Listening councils that tell you what, why, and how

- Large meetings, symposia, and internal podcasts

ONE METHOD UNDERNEATH BOTH

A university leader and a health care practitioner often have the same problem in different clothes. The work to solve it is frequently these three moves.

01

Listen first

Find out what's really going on — what your patients, people, or campus need, and what's getting in the way — not what you assume.

02

Name it plainly

Get clear on where you're headed and put it in words people can act on. Sometimes the job is deleting things.

03

Build the channel

A service model, a program, a course, a site, a message. A direct line to your people, patients, and clients.

Start a conversation

Tell me where you are and where you want to be. I'll get back to you.
